Behind every improvement in healthcare is the ability to understand what is happening across a system, identify opportunities, and learn from others.
Health Roundtable is proud to support Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in building that capability through trusted benchmarking, shared insight and system-wide collaboration.
Today, 25 public hospitals across New Zealand contribute data to the Health Roundtable, enabling leaders and clinicians to better understand performance, identify emerging trends and support continuous improvement across the health system.
Unlike traditional reporting, Health Roundtable's risk-adjusted, peer-benchmarked approach allows organisations to look beyond individual services and understand patterns across hospitals, regions and jurisdictions. The focus is not on ranking performance, but on creating meaningful insight that supports learning and better patient outcomes.
Working closely with national leadership, Health Roundtable developed a bespoke New Zealand dashboard, released last year, to provide a national view of performance while supporting regional and local decision-making. The dashboard has quickly become one of the most utilised areas of the Health Roundtable platform for New Zealand members, highlighting the value of tailored, system-level insight.
More recently, Health Roundtable engaged with New Zealand's National Clinical Chiefs to explore how benchmarking and shared data can strengthen system-wide clinical governance and improvement.
These conversations continued at Health Roundtable's recent Better Together event in Brisbane, where quality and safety leaders from Health New Zealand and Te Tāhū Hauora | Health Quality and Safety Commission joined colleagues from across Australia and New Zealand to share practical examples of using data to improve care.
The discussions reinforced a shared belief that meaningful improvement happens when organisations work together, learn from one another and use trusted data to inform decisions.
As healthcare systems continue to evolve, partnerships like this demonstrate the value of combining local knowledge with national insight to support better outcomes for patients, clinicians and communities.
Health Roundtable looks forward to continuing to work alongside Health New Zealand and its members to support data-informed improvement across the health system.
